A Case Report for the Mesothelioma of the Fallopian Tube with Review of Literatures

Abstract
The mesothelioma of the genital tract, which was frequently nominated as adenomatoid tumor, has no specific clinical symptoms and commonly incidentally observed on the surgical specimens for other primary lesions or on the autopsy specimens, as a relatively rare, slowly growing, small (average 0.5~2.5 cm. in diameter) benign tumor.
Because the exact histogenesis of this tumor is not yet clearly clarified, there are numerous misnormers and confusions on its nomenclature. However, the authors would dare choice mesothel-ioma as its nomenclature, because the evidences suggesting mesothelial origin from the mesonephric remnants are accumulated and confirmed by electrone micrography. The authors could collected 112 cases of mesothelioma of the female genital tract, variably nomenclatured(Table 1), from worldwide literatures and reanalyzed to search its natures as an isolated entity.
The summarized are as follows;
1. The preferable histogenesis of this tumor is mesothelial origin of the mesonephric remants.
2. It is relatively rare disease identity.
3. The mean age is 46.1¡¾13.13 and its predilection age is from 35 to 55.
4. The predilection sites of-this tumor in female are fallopian tube(49 cases, 43.4%) and uterus (46 cases, 40.7%).
5. The size of this tumor (diameter) is variable from 0. 2 to 7.5 cm. and its mean is 2.0¡¾1.61 cm.
6. This tumor does not evoke specific clinical symptoms and usually was discovered by various coexistent pelvic diseases. The most common coexistent pelvic disease is leiomyoma uterii and there is no suspicious evidence for etiologic correlationship between these two diseases.
7. Although there were sporadic cases of malignant counterpart of this tumor, especially in male, the mesothelioma in female is a benign entity.
8. The authors reported a case of mesothelioma of the fallopian tube in a 39-year old multiparous pregnant woman.
It was the most smallest case and the second case showing pregnancy in the reported cases among the worldwide literatures.
